What dietitians miss in South Carolina
- The South Carolina license protects the dietitian and LD titles; unlicensed practice that avoids those titles is not barred by the act.
- Compact bill S. 160 passed the Senate and has sat in the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee since February 18, 2026.
- Applicants educated outside the United States must meet CDR registration requirements.
Does South Carolina license dietitians?
South Carolina licenses dietitians through LLR's Panel for Dietetics. The unlicensed-practice section makes it unlawful only to hold oneself out as a dietitian or licensed dietitian or to use the letters LD, so the law protects the title. Applicants qualify through CDR registration requirements or an approved exam and degree.
- License
- Licensed Dietitian (LD)
- Only the title is protected
